This weekend we went to the heart of “Serra da Gardunha” to visit one village that is part of the historical villages of Portugal tour. From the very typical two-storey houses, built in granite (Aiste´s favourite), to the Fountains and the Castle we had more then what we had hoped for, and the day was not enough to take it all in. We really like when the tourism centre are good and the people in them are friendly and helpful, and that was the case here, if you are planning a visit be sure to call them or just start by going there as they are super welcoming and can give very good advises. They recommended some of the places we visited including the Lagariça, an old wine press that dates back to the 7th and 8th century and also gave us advices on other places to see in the region.
The only sad part of the trip was to see the devastation that the 2017 fires left in this region, a real tragedy, and one we hope never happens again.
