This weekend we decided to explore the Roman ruins of São Cucufate, close to Vidigueira in the Alentejo region of Portugal, being one of the best preserved Roman villas of Portugal. The convent, which dates back to Middle Ages, was dedicated to the martyred saint Cucuphas. We had a wonderful time there specially because considering the importance of this archaeological site we were impressed by the lack of people visiting, we spent an entire morning alone, having the complex all for ourselves.
